Children will learn through play, exploration and freedom to manage and overcome risk with the confidence of support from fully qualified experienced staff. Along with being taught through small peer group games, one to one interaction with the child’s key worker and Kids at BayPoint staff. This is done by child initiated activities, child lead activities and staff initiated plans.

The Key Person system enables the child to gain confidence with a (constant) person and build a relationship with them. We also encourage staff and children to mix throughout the sessions to enable them to practice their social skills and gain social independence.

Curriculum

The principles we use at Kids at BayPoint include effective education through staff awareness that children develop uniquely and individually through the Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Children are taught through the broad and balanced Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage, which along with the Kids at BayPoint inclusion and SEND policies ensure that all children are treated equally and all given equal opportunities to fully access Kids at BayPoint along with their peers.

Children will be made to feel included, secure, and valued. Kids at BayPoint will work in partnership with all parents/carers to gain a full understanding of each and every child. Children will be highly valued at Kids at BayPoint where qualified staff will develop the child’s strengths and encourage these alongside all areas of the Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage preparing them for entry into Primary School.

All children will have a ‘My Unique Story’ learning record. This will be completed by the child’s Key Person and class staff who will collate an individual plan for each child to indicate their unique pathway and areas for further development. This learning record will contain photographs, work samples, specific learning moment observations and records of achievements made by the children. These will be kept securely in the child’s class but are always available for parents/carers to view and discuss with Kids at BayPoint staff.
